NIKKOR Motion Gallery

The NIKKOR Motion Gallery introduces works by globally active top artists in a variety of genres that open up new possibilities in imaging using NIKKOR lenses. Nikon is pleased to share its latest video creation in the gallery with “Paris Je T'aime”.

•    Paris Je T'aime, a video by Stella Libert
Featuring a pair of parkour*1 athletes in the streets of Paris, this video brings a view that both highlights and provides contrast of modern agility and intense pacing, against the beautiful combination of old and new architecture.

Stella Libert is an up-and-coming French cinematographer based in Paris who works both in Europe and internationally. Although she is primarily a director of photography for TV commercials, music videos, and short films, Paris Je T'aime, marks Stella’s first adventure as a film director. Her excellent sense of art direction and creativity, combined with her ease with new technologies and innovative use of image, guarantee a bright future for this rising star.

Video version of the designer interview, "Vol. 6 - The Foundation of NIKKOR Lenses"

"Vol. 6 - The Foundation of NIKKOR Lenses" is the sixth in a series of interviews in which those who design and produce NIKKOR lenses, backed by history and tradition, talk about lens design and production from a variety of angles, from the appeal of interchangeable lenses to the lenses that they themselves would choose.

The scene for Vol. 6 is set at Nikon's Akita plant, Hikari Glass Co., Ltd., the foundation of Nikon's production of optical glass. Nikon is one of very few camera manufacturers around the world that maintains integrated production system, which begins with careful selection of lens materials for the production of optical lenses. Advanced production technologies and systems are not the only things needed to manufacture high-precision, high-quality optical lenses. The skilled techniques developed by the craftsmen who make the lenses over many years are also necessary.

This video introduces the foundation of NIKKOR lenses through interviews with those working at the manufacturing plant. It shows the positive attitude and pride these people feel about producing products that respond to the strict demands exclusive to Nikon, beginning with repeated inspections at each step of the manufacturing process.
